In the historic heart of Washington, DC, Gaggenau, along with dealer partner ABW Appliances, hosted an exceptional Taste for Design event at MICHELIN-Starred restaurant Métier, a contemporary American dining experience, created by Gaggenau Black Jacket Society Chef Eric Ziebold.

In the Secret Ingredients short film, Chef Eric Ziebold prepares a dish in Spyhouse, the home of Joan Dempsey, designed by architect Simon Jacobsen.

One of the many highlights of the evening included a private showing of the Gaggenau Taste for Design film short “Secret Ingredients,” which features the stunning “Spy House” project, and paints an intimate portrait of Chef Ziebold, homeowner Joan Dempsey, and architect Simon Jacobsen, coming together to reveal the nuanced details that make for good living.

The film short was followed by a special discussion between Julie Sanders, Senior Editor of Home + Design Magazine, Chef Ziebold, Club 1683 Member Simon Jacobsen of Jacobsen Architects, and owner of the “Spy House” Joan Dempsey. Dempsey, a former government official, and Jacobsen, the principal architect on the project, shared their secret ingredients for success when it came to the overall design of the home, while Chef Ziebold noted how comfortable he felt cooking in the residential kitchen space.

Following the discussion, guests were invited to enjoy a four-course menu within the elegant and atmospheric Métier private dining room. Dinner featured delectable dishes like Louisiana crayfish agnolotti, followed by salt crusted, curry-spiced roast chicken, and a refreshing pistachio and rhubarb custard cake.

Gaggenau’s event series called “A Taste for Design” is exclusively for Gaggenau Club 1683 members and prospective members. Devised to laud the intersection of architecture, design and the culinary arts, each event pairs a MICHELIN-Starred chef with renowned architects, designers and/or spaces to discuss the cross connections between food, art, architecture, and design.
