From Brazil to the Strip, designer Fabiola Avelino’s journey blends artistry with precision and a passion for light, texture, and transformation. Her practice thrives in the high desert luxury of Las Vegas, where she has spent over two decades honing a dynamic aesthetic—part sculptural statement, part soulfully modern. “My style is good taste. I’m a chameleon by choice.” Her firm is renowned for its bespoke residential work, which transitions between Zaha Hadid–inspired geometry and warm, elevated minimalism. Clients come for the vision and stay for her emotional intelligence, refined palettes, and the layered storytelling that defines every room.

A Kitchen Made for the Golden Hour

Perched high above the Las Vegas Strip in the exclusive Summit Club, the kitchen at Canyon Overlook Drive is both a showstopper and a sanctuary. Designed by Avelino for a high-profile entrepreneur and his family, the space balances contemporary style with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. “They entertain, they host, they retreat here,” Avelino says

At the center of the kitchen is a glowing Cristallo quartzite island. It’s illuminated from within to reflect the twinkling skyline beyond. Gaggenau appliances are seamlessly integrated, grounding the kitchen in quiet sophistication. “We designed this with lighting in mind,” Avelino explains. “It’s not just a kitchen, it’s a mood board come to life.” By night, the kitchen transforms: glass cabinetry becomes softly luminous, and even with the lights off, the space radiates a golden glow.

Designed for Life, Framed by Light

Though Avelino often works on full-home builds, this project was especially collaborative with the homeowners. Gaggenau is featured throughout the kitchen, from refrigeration columns and dishwashers to a sleek induction cooktop and ovens. Her design choices reflect a love for ambient control and material integrity. “Lighting is one of my love languages,” she notes. “Every layer tells a different story depending on the time of day.” That storytelling extends to architecture, as well. Trained in Brazil as an architect, it was during Avelino’s early career as a faux finisher that she developed her sense of materiality and detail. “I’d paint the most exquisite wall finishes, and the rest of the house couldn’t keep up, so I started doing the rest, and never looked back.”

Looking Ahead

Avelino’s firm continues to grow in both scale and influence. With several large-scale projects underway in Summerlin and beyond, she remains committed to a hands-on approach that favors intimacy over mass production. “This isn’t just about design, it’s about connection,” she says. “I want every project to reflect the soul of the people who live there.” Whether designing for NFL owners or young families, her creative compass remains the same: illuminate the best of what’s possible.
