Timmy Coles-Liddle has always had an eye for design. It was a dream of his to find a house with period architecture and meld it with contemporary twists, in order to create an aesthetic which is entirely original. After two years of searching for the perfect home, Timmy and his partner Luigi finally found the ideal prospect: a dilapidated 500-year-old country estate, set in the untapped north of Ibiza. Although the house originally had no windows or doors, Timmy immediately felt its soul, which inspired him to begin a journey to create something extraordinary.

Timmy is the founder of NINE, a private club that crafts tailored travel experiences globally. Ever since spending a year on the African continent, Timmy has been intrigued by different cultures and exploring remote lands, which helps him and his team curate one-of-a-kind journeys for members. Capitalizing on his global experience in luxury travel, Timmy explored the world with Luigi to form the picture for their ultimate home. Their two-year search originally began in Italy and Mallorca before eventually landing in Ibiza.

When it came to designing the kitchen, Timmy knew that he wanted to use modern appliances to create an elegant and functional space in contrast to the 16th century architecture. Previously when in London, Timmy and Luigi would wander past the Gaggenau showroom on Wigmore Street and imagine implementing the sleek black appliances offset against an ancient stone house. As they began their kitchen renovation, the duo hoped that Gaggenau would be used to complete their one-of-a-kind space.

The process of designing their perfect kitchen was not an easy one. It took Timmy and Luigi close to two years to finish, and involved many different concepts. Timmy had the clear vision of wanting to create a minimalist kitchen whilst maintaining a feeling of warmth and comfort. With the help of his designers, Roberta Jurado at BOX3 and Ali Pittam at cancan design, they expanded the kitchen space by carving out the courtyard to realize one continuous level, transforming the once tight, long, and awkward area to create a spacious hub for the couple to enjoy. The challenge of creating his dream kitchen left Timmy with a sense of discovery, which makes the kitchen feel even more marvelous each time it’s used.

Both Timmy and Luigi love spending time in the kitchen and exploring new recipes, so they needed appliances that would complement that. Their chosen appliances included ovens and a flex induction cooktop from our 200 series. Using Gaggenau allowed them to blend sleek aesthetics with appliances that offer extraordinary functionality.

“The kitchen has become a sort of hub where we congregate to chill and chat. There’s a perfectly decent living room but it’s the cool, spacious kitchen that is where the energy resonates. This is our happy place.”
